State OFFF

Born in Zimbabwe and based in Amsterdam, State OFFF works in the cracks between scenes, welding Durban's gqom to São Paulo's funk, Baltimore club and London basslines into something heavier and stranger. For him gqom is less a genre than a tool for the global club circuit. His 2024 EP Simulacra was the breakthrough, pushing gqom's minimalism into collision with the raw energy of Brazilian club music, and its track Durban Funk, built on a bassline that lands like a steel beam, made Mixmag's list of top tracks of the year and travelled from Durban to Rio de Janeiro. He played The Nest at Dekmantel Festival in 2025, and again in 2026 alongside Scratchclart.
